Finishing the basement

Well, while the house has been built for over 5 years now, we have yet to finish the basement. When I say we, I mean myself, as Jude would never go near a hammer, not even if her life depended on it.

I have had many different plans for the way I wanted to finish it though, and given I installed radiant flooring in the slab when we built the house, we can walk barefoot on the concrete, even in the middle of our cold winter here in Canada. The kids love it and so do we. And it takes away of these humid basements that are not so welcoming, ours is always toasty warm. Now if only we could get down to business and finish it.

I am saying this but I have started to frame it a bit, so that to close the boiler room, where the furnace is. It took me forever to get the door to fit, since me being myself, I could not keep it to a simple door, had to be something more difficult, which I knew nothing about: a pocket door. These are doors that opens in the wall, so they do not take space on one side or the other when open.

Okay, I am trying to get away from doing some actual work in the basement, and Jude sees right through it. I am requested to lift my butt from the sofa, get dressed and get down to business.

Will report back on the progress made later, if there is any!
